On November 6, 2024, idD Portugal Defence hosted a technical working meeting between Lockheed Martin, Pratt & Whitney, and Portuguese experts from entities within the National Scientific and Technological System (SCTN), aiming to explore synergies and joint innovation opportunities.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Portuguese Air Force and focused on presentations by various Portuguese experts showcasing Portugal’s technological and industrial capabilities, acting as the front office for the national ecosystem.
As part of its mission to foster strategic partnerships, idD challenged these two multinationals to develop a pilot project in areas of innovation and technological development, exploring the concept of “Innovation as a Service.” This pilot project could open doors to deeper, sustained collaboration between the national Defence, Technological, and Industrial Base (DTIB) and these American giants, enhancing the integration of the national DTIB in technologically complex, strategically significant defence sector projects on a global scale.
This meeting follows up on the encounter between idD and Lockheed Martin at the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow. Through this initiative, idD Portugal Defence strengthens its role in promoting Portuguese industry participation in the global defence value chain.
