idD Portugal Defence, in collaboration with the Directorate-General for National Defence Resources (DGRDN), organized two sessions on September 24th aimed at the coordination teams of the NATO Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) and the NATO Innovation Fund (NIF) regarding the innovation ecosystem in Portugal.
The first session focused on presenting public policy instruments designed to support start-ups in Portugal, featuring speeches from Gil Azevedo, Executive Director of Startup Portugal; Carlos Félix, CEO of idD Portugal Defence; António Grilo, President of the National Innovation Agency; and Patrícia Roque, Head of Community and Communications at Startup Portugal.
The second session included the participation of eight start-ups selected through the Pitch for NATO call, which had the opportunity to present to the NATO teams and engage in networking moments with investment leaders from the NIF and evaluation teams from DIANA. The session featured pitches from: BestHealth4U, Beyond Vision, Connected, Eliot, Graphenest, LusoVU, Neuraspace, and Swatter Company.
These sessions aimed to increase the visibility of Portuguese start-ups with solutions in the areas of defence, security, and resilience among the coordination teams of the NIF and NATO/DIANA, as well as to consolidate idD as a connection point between Portuguese companies, research centers, and universities with the NIF and NATO/DIANA.
