idD Portugal Defence participated in DEFEA – Defence Exhibition Athens 2021, the first major international fair dedicated to Defence since the beginning of the pandemic, between the 13th and 15th of July. As part of its mission to promote the Defence Economy, Portugal Defence held a total of 24 meetings with entities and companies from various countries and participated in two workshops, on the European Defence Fund and European Union Instruments.

The participation in DEFEA’21 was jointly organised by idD Portugal Defence and AED Cluster Portugal. The Portuguese delegation was made up of six companies (GMVIS, OGMA, Partyard, AEROMEC, AVP and EID). This delegation was accompanied by the presence of the Portuguese Minister of Defence, João Gomes Cravinho, in Greece, for the holding of a bilateral meeting between the two countries at the governmental level.

As part of his participation in the DEFEA’s opening ceremony, the Minister of Defence visited the Portugal stand to meet and speak with Portuguese defence economy companies present at the fair. The Greek Defence Minister, Nikolaus Panagiotopoulos, also visited the Portuguese stand.

idD Portugal Defence’s participation at DEFEA’21 was part of the implementation of the Defence agreement signed at the end of 2020 between Portugal and Greece and aimed to support the national industry in its businesses, finding partners for projects promoted under the EU programs and in the establishment of new relationships with counterparts in other countries.
