
idD Portugal Defence and the Portuguese Navy presented today the regulations for the Portuguese Navy Qualification Marks in a ceremony held at the Casa da Balança in Lisbon.
The ceremony was presided over by the Chief of the Navy General Staff, Admiral Henrique Gouveia e Melo, accompanied by the President of idD Portugal Defence, Eng. Carlos Félix, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the Armed Forces, industry, and academia, in a joint effort to foster innovation and international competitiveness.
The Qualification Marks aim to distinguish products and technologies tested for use in a maritime or naval environment, ensuring their performance and compliance.
During the ceremony, Carlos Félix highlighted: “The Navy Qualification Marks: Navy Tested and Navy Mission Proven are a highly relevant project to accelerate the process of improving military systems and equipment, providing the entities of the Defence Technological and Industrial Base (DTIB) with a tool to assert the quality of their products both nationally and internationally.”
The idD President also emphasized the benefits of this qualification for national companies, such as credibility, access to opportunities, institutional promotion, and technical validation of certified systems and equipment.
With this initiative, idD Portugal Defence and the Portuguese Navy reinforce their commitment to excellence, innovation, and the international competitiveness of national companies and entities in the defence sector.
