The ‘National Defence Strategy for Space 2020-2030’ was presented this week at the ‘National Defence Space Days’.

Marco Capitão Ferreira, Chairman of the Board of idD Portugal Defence, highlighted the essential pillars of this strategy:

  1. Build an operational capacity in the Armed Forces that use this domain in the pursuit of their missions and attributions, guaranteeing the sovereignty of the State;
  2. Strengthen the Defence Economy, creating qualified employment, research and development and the internationalisation of the national economy;
  3. Approaching space in a logic that, being sovereign, recognizes the centrality of supporting the integration of built-up military capabilities and national companies involved in cooperative and cross-border projects.

This initiative was organised by the Ministry of National Defence.
